Pricing & Orders

How much does custom workwear printing cost in Sydney?

Custom workwear printing in Sydney typically ranges from around $20 - $35 per garment for the print itself, depending on logo size, print positions and quantity. A complete branded polo or tee usually lands between $35 and $55 per item, with per-unit prices dropping as your order grows.

The biggest factors that affect your price:

  • Quantity - 20 shirts cost less per unit than 5
  • Print positions - front chest only vs front + back + sleeve
  • Garment choice - a basic tee vs a premium AS Colour or The Winning Spirit polo
  • Artwork - DTF prints full colour logos at no extra cost, unlike screen printing where every colour adds to the price

What's the minimum order for custom printed workwear?

With DTF printing, there's no large minimum order (exceptions do apply), you can order even a handful of garments at a sensible price. Because DTF has no screen setup costs, sole traders and small teams aren't penalised the way they are with traditional screen printing, which often needs 20-50 units to be economical.

Order what you need now and reorder as your team grows, your artwork stays on file so repeat orders match perfectly.

How long does custom workwear printing take in Sydney?

Standard turnaround is typically 5-10 business days from artwork approval, depending on garment availability and order size. Small DTF runs can often be turned around faster, sometimes within the same week - because there's no screen setup involved.

To keep your job moving quickly:

  1. Approve your artwork proof promptly - the most common delay
  2. Confirm sizes early - garment supply is the other main variable
  3. Tell us your deadline upfront - we'll tell you honestly whether it's achievable

Based in the Hills District, we service all of Sydney, and local pickup is available if you need gear fast.

Why choose a local Sydney printer over a cheap online service?

A local printer gives you real proofs, accurate colour matching, faster turnaround, and someone accountable if anything's wrong, things overseas print-on-demand sites can't offer. For workwear, where compliance, durability and consistent branding across reorders matter, local support pays for itself quickly.

  • See mockups before committing to a full crew order
  • Consistent reorders - your artwork and garment specs stay on file
  • Direct communication - call or text a real person, not a ticket queue
  • Faster fixes - sizing swaps or top-ups without international shipping delays

Printing & Durability

What is DTF printing, and why is it better for workwear?

DTF (Direct to Film) printing is a modern digital method where your design is printed onto a special film, coated with adhesive powder, then heat-pressed onto the garment. The result is a vibrant, full-colour print that stretches with the fabric and holds up to repeated industrial washing.

For workwear specifically, DTF has three big advantages:

  1. Full colour at no extra cost - gradients, small text and detailed logos print perfectly
  2. Works on almost any fabric - cotton, polyester, blends, and hi-vis materials
  3. No large minimum order pressure - no screen setup, so small runs stay affordable
DTF vs screen printing vs embroidery: which is best for tradie workwear?

For most Sydney trade businesses, DTF printing offers the best balance of durability, detail and price — especially for full-colour logos and smaller orders. Screen printing suits very large single-colour runs, while embroidery works best on polos, caps and jackets where a premium stitched look matters.

DTF Screen Printing Embroidery
Best for Full-colour logos, small–medium runs Large runs, simple designs Polos, caps, jackets
Colours Unlimited Priced per colour Thread colours only
Small orders Yes No - high setup costs  Yes, digitising fee
Fine detail Excellent Limited Poor below ~5mm

Many of our clients combine both: DTF for tees, hoodies and hi-vis; embroidery for polos and caps.

Will printed logos survive worksite conditions and washing?

Yes - quality DTF prints withstand 50+ washes without cracking, peeling or fading, and flex with the fabric rather than sitting stiff on top of it. That makes them well suited to the stretching, sweating and repeated washing that trade workwear cops on site.

To maximise print life:

  • Wash inside out in cold or warm water (under 40°C)
  • Avoid harsh bleach directly on the print
  • Line dry where possible; iron inside out, never directly over the logo

Artwork & Compliance

Is my hi-vis still compliant with Australian standards after printing?

Yes - provided the printing doesn't cover the fluorescent background material or reflective tape beyond allowable limits. Australian hi-vis garments are certified under AS/NZS 4602.1, and logos are permitted as long as the garment keeps the minimum required area of fluorescent material and the reflective tape stays unobstructed.

  • Chest logos are fine in standard print zones
  • Large back prints need care on taped garments - we position around the tape
  • Day/night rated garments (Class D/N) have stricter requirements than day-only

We print on certified hi-vis and position all artwork so your team stays compliant on site.

What logo file do I need, and what if I only have a photo?

Vector files (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG) are ideal because they scale to any size without losing quality. A high-resolution PNG with transparent background (300 DPI at print size) also works well for DTF. If all you have is a photo of your old shirt or ute signage - don't stress.

  • Vector: print-ready, perfect edges at any size
  • High-res PNG/JPG: usually fine for DTF
  • Low-res image or photo: we can redraw it as a clean vector for a small artwork fee - and you keep the file
Are branded uniforms tax deductible for tradies in Australia?

Generally yes - clothing with your business logo permanently attached is treated by the ATO as a distinctive uniform, which typically makes the purchase and even laundering costs deductible for your business. Plain unbranded clothing usually isn't deductible, one more practical reason to brand your gear.

  • The logo must be permanently attached (printed or embroidered)
  • Protective clothing like hi-vis is deductible in its own right when required for work
  • Keep your invoices - branded crew workwear is a clean business expense

General information only, not tax advice - confirm your situation with your accountant or the ATO.
