How to Get Your Team's Sizing Right the First Time (No Reprints, No Waste)
Share
One of the most common (and most avoidable) headaches with a bulk uniform order isn't the design or the printing - it's sizing. A handful of wrong sizes can mean reprints, delays, and wasted stock. Here's how to get it right the first time, whether you're outfitting a five-person crew or a fifty-person office.
Why Sizing Goes Wrong on Team Orders
- Assumed sizes - guessing sizes from memory or a quick hallway chat, rather than actually asking each person.
- No size chart reference - different garments and brands fit differently, so a "Large" isn't always a "Large."
- New hires after the order - no plan in place for adding sizes once the bulk order has already gone through.
A Simple Process for Collecting Sizes
- Send a size chart, not just size labels - share the specific garment's chest/length measurements rather than relying on generic S/M/L assumptions.
- Order a sample kit first - for orders of any real size, it's worth getting one or two samples in-house so people can try them on before committing to sizes.
- Collect sizes individually, in writing - a simple form or spreadsheet where each person confirms their own size removes guesswork and gives you a clear record.
- Build in a small buffer - ordering a couple of spare pieces in your most common sizes covers new hires or a size mix-up without needing a whole reorder.
What to Do When New Team Members Join Later
Teams grow, and uniform orders shouldn't have to start from scratch every time someone new comes on board.
- Keep your design and setup on file - once we've produced your design, reordering additional pieces later is much faster than starting from artwork again.
- Order small top-up runs as needed - you don't need to wait until you have a large batch of new hires to place a follow-up order.
How We Help With Sizing
When you place a bulk order with us, we'll talk you through garment fit before production starts, and we're always happy to arrange a sample piece first for larger corporate or trade orders, so you're not guessing sizes across a whole team.
Planning a Team Order?
Send us your team size and garment preferences, and we'll help you plan a sizing process that avoids the classic "half the team ordered the wrong size" problem.
